Who we are
When a personal trainer and a social worker meet for coffee, exciting things happen. Taryn McLean and Caroline Smith started the conversation about their passions and hopes for helping others and Help You Dwell was born.
Caroline is a Nashville native who moved to Knoxville 10 years ago. She fell in love with the city as well as a tall man, whom she changed her name for and now calls 'Honey'. She worked for three years as a case manager to individuals experiencing homelessness and is passionate about the under-privileged in our community. An avid list maker and re-arranger, Caroline loves to organize just about anything other than the contents of other peoples trash cans.

Taryn was born and raised in Knoxville and after a 7 year hiatus to Asheville, NC, is now thankful to call Knoxville home. At the University of Tennessee, she met her husband of 19 years. She and Matt have three imaginative, active and hilarious little people that follow them around and look a lot like them too. Taryn has worked in the fitness industry for 18 years as an instructor and personal trainer. One of Taryn's greatest joys is to empower folks by meeting them where they are and encouraging them through the implementation of organization and order.

Meet the team
After a year of building intentional community, thanks to the Knoxville Fellows Program, Katie decided to grow some roots here in Tennessee. She grew up and went to college in North Carolina. Her love for rearranging is certainly nothing new to her family and friends; as a little girl, she would haul around her bedroom furniture to give her space a fresh look. Not even a tiny college dorm room could keep her love for organizing at bay; and thankfully her roommate found it amusing. In early 2016 she met the ladies of HYD for breakfast to hear more about the business, and shortly after joined the team.

A Kansan at heart, Cassandra now claims South Knoxville as home, alongside her husband and two husky pups. With a Bachelor degree in Interior Design, and a minor in Construction Management, Cassandra makes a great addition to the HYD team. Her true love for design started when she learned the importance of space planning, but you can usually find her rearranging existing pieces and simplify all aspects of her life.

Bekah comes from a long line of big, wild, farming families. With nine kids and 500 head of cattle to feed (or at least keep alive), her parents had their hands full. Only in retrospect has she realized the immense and admiral ability Mom and Dad had to maintain order among all the chaos. Everything in their home, in the barns, and around the farm had a designated place. This ability must run in her blood because Grandma, a farming mother of eight, maintained the same impeccable order. And so out of both necessity and personal satisfaction she has carried on the desire to live intentionally in her home. It brings peace of mind and a feeling of fulfillment in transforming a space of neglect and chaos into a place of harmony!
