HYD Team Home Tours: Barb + Sarah

One of our favorite things to share on the blog are home tours. We decided to do a little virtual “home tour” with our own team members. So, enjoy these two!

Barb

How long have you lived in your home?
- 17 years

What does "home" mean to you?
- A place of peace. We rescued this house from being nearly condemned. We have literally touched every inch of her and worked to bring her back. When I am home I sense my family, laughter, and all the joy & sorrow that life has brought us. It is filled with art and beauty. It is not fancy, but functional and flexibly comfortable.

How would you describe your style of decorating?
- Found objects and eclectic

Did your style happen organically or was it a process of figuring out what style means to you? Has your style changed over time? Do you have any favorite stores or shops for furniture or home decor?
- My style has evolved and become more free. For awhile I decorated true to the period of the house. It was a bit stiff then. Literally my husband begged me to get a comfortable couch, which we did.

When people come into your home, what do you hope they feel?
- A sense that they are welcome

Do you have a style or home philosophy?
- Everything in my home has some small story to tell. I don’t have a lot of clutter. If it is there, it’s because I like it or it has a function.

How is your home an extension of yourself or of your family?
- Our home frequently has family gatherings which most times involve a meal. I love it if one small part of the meal was grown in my garden even if it just the use of herbs.

Do you have a favorite room in your home? A favorite piece of art or piece of furniture?
- I like it all.

What do you love most about your home?
- That we have restored something which we enjoy and love sharing it.

How would you describe your relationship to your belongings?
- I like them but they don’t own me.

What do you love about working with HYD clients?
- Helping clients bring peace and order to their lives.
