3 Ways to Shift your Home Seasonally

It won’t be long before our team is busy helping folks prepare their homes for the holiday season! While we love to make our clients homes festive, we also encourage them to slow down and take a seasonal approach rather than just focusing on specific holidays. Prepare your home to enjoy it all season long instead of just one day or week.

Here are some considerations:

  • What events do you celebrate in your home?

  • How does back to school change your familys routines and schedules?

  • Do you have any annual gatherings with friends and neighbors?

  • Are there traditions that are meaningful to you?

3 ways to shift your home seasonally:

  1. Use natural seasonal touches.

Home Goods and Hobby Lobby are doing their best to lure us in with the extensive variety of pumpkins, scarecrows, football decor, and even some winter holiday items already. Pause before you fill your cart! Consider using materials, textures, and pieces that can work in your home throughout the early days of autumn all the way through to the Christmas season.

  2. Get cozy.

Pull out your thicker blankets and warmer layers for beds, couches, and other seating areas. We always recommend washing and refreshing your summer textiles before packing them away for the season. Swap your citrus & fresh candles for the scents you prefer in the fall & winter.

  3. Take Inventory.

If you had a busy summer full of trips, adventures, and fluctuating schedules it is likely that areas of your home you used frequently could use some attention. How’s your landing zone and entry way looking? Has your garage or patio gotten overloaded throughout summer activities? As the weather shifts, it’s time to put away swimsuits and sundresses and make space for transitional fall wardrobe pieces like lightweight jackets, sweaters, jeans, etc.
