After you’ve done the work of deciding what items to let go of, it’s important to make a wise decision about where to donate your items. We are always eager to fulfill our clients specific wishes on where certain items are donated, when they have an organization or place in mind. That being said, we often get asked “where should I donate this?” or “do you know of any organization in town who could use this?”. We are always learning and exploring to better match our clients donations with unique needs in our community.
Here are a few donation spots you might not know about:
Care Cuts
Donate items to meet essential needs and provide comfort to those who they serve. Every Saturday is the weekly Donation Day! Items may also be dropped off on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Sundays from 9 AM to 1 PM during outreach events. Let them know you’re coming with this form.
Friends of the Library
Accepting new and gently used magazines, books, and sheet music. Contact them if you have encyclopedias and/or text books to donate. You can bring three bags or boxes to any branch circulation desk during normal hours.
Helping Mamas Knoxville
Accepts most essential items for children ages birth to age 14 and maternity clothes. Donations can be dropped off at our office M – F from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm (10908 McBride Lane Knoxville, TN 37932)
Knoxville Dream Center
Accepts new and gently used clothing items at their warehouse (1444 Breda Dr. 37918). Donation hours are Monday - Thursdays 9am-4pm and Fridays 9am-12pm

The Love Kitchen
Donations of supplies or food are used for the Love Kitchen’s facility, pantry, and emergency food bags
Magnolia Ministries

Newborns in Need
Sleepers in September (collecting premie, newborn, and 0-3 month sleepers from Sept. 1 - Oct. 31)
Soles 4 Souls
Donate new or gently used shoes at DSW in Turkey Creek. They accept 1-15 pairs of shoes per person donating.
Spark
Donate medical equipment to help connect people with disabilities in East TN with the adaptive tools and technology needed to live life with maximum independence and dignity.
Young-Williams Animal Center
A recent Instagram post mentioned some items you might consider “trash” that they could use: shallow cardboard trays, used towels and blankets, empty pill bottles, and cardboard tubes. Check their current needs list for more info.
