Light the candle. Holiday candles can seem frivolous or unnecessary, but the ambiance and aroma they give are such a delight. Create a morning ritual of lighting your candle & having a few quiet moments alone (if possible) to breathe deep and start the day with gratitude.

Make a playlist. If you and the people in your household have some holiday favorites, create your own mix to play throughout the season. There are also plenty of pre-made mixes available. Background music can make everything better - baking, wrapping, playing a game, etc.

Bake cookies for your neighbor (or teacher, mailman, or co-worker). Pull out your family recipe and bake away. Or grab your favorites from Trader Joe’s and tie a ribbon around the box and call it done. Cookies are cookies - always a treat.

Get some fresh air. Take a walk! Whether you’re working from home or doing virtual school, lots of our life has shifted to being on a screen- so be sure to build in breaks. 10 minutes of fresh air (even if you’re bundled up) can be a mood booster and game changer.

Write about a favorite holiday memory from your childhood. Jot down what you remember from a special holiday memory. Explore why that memory stands out, what it makes you feel, and who you could share that with.

Research and donate. Our community (local and beyond) is doing some wonderful work to support those who are most vulnerable this holiday season. Consider giving financially to a cause that is meaningful to you.
